On June 27th, 1966, Dark Shadows aired it’s first episode on ABC.

We’ve had a love affair with Barnabas Collins for many years now, and this show had a huge influence on our goth upbringing. ImageImage

“Steve” is Stephen D. Sullivan. We don’t know him, we just really like his pictures.

The outside shots of Collinwood are filmed at The Carey Mansion, in Newport Rhode Island. Image

A few other buildings have been used during the filiming of various Dark Shadows movies, but our favorite is Lyndhurst. This mansion was built in 1838 and expanded upon for years. It was used in the 1970 film ‘House of Dark Shadows.’ Image

We recently visited Lyndhurst and it was DEFINITELY worth the $5 entrance fee.Image Image Image
Happy Dark Shadows Day! We hope you have a chance to watch an episode or two!
