there will never be a 'new black'
The first post! What can we say? Welcome! We’re really excited to launch this blog. It’s something we’ve had in the works for a long time and we can’t wait to share it with you!
If you think about the phrase “way gother” for a minute you’ll realize it’s exactly what you think.
We grew up wanting to be Lydia Deetz, wishing our middle school clique was way more like “the Craft” and dreaming of having a boyfriend like Eric Draven. Now we’re adults, ninety percent of our wardrobe is black, we all own a Wednesday Addams dress, and we don’t go a week without listening to Bloodletting by Concrete Blonde. The glory of our lifestyle/aesthetic is that we don’t take ourselves as seriously as we did in middle school and high school. We only dig out our white pressed powder a few times a year and we wear big black hats instead of carrying parasols. Sure, to the outside world, we still probably look like we’re sacrificing goats and/or virgins, but we’re really just meeting for book club.
So what are we doing? We just want to show you stuff you might not know about. We’re spending our after work (and sometimes during work, shhhhhh) hours scouring the interwebs, looking for music you want to listen to, books you want to read, art you need to own, and clothes you want to wear (and can actually afford) and don’t worry, there will be lots of cats involved.
The way we see it, we’re all in this unspoken club, wearing Bloodmilk jewelry and listening to Chelsea Wolfe, so why not have a place to meet so we can figure out which churches we’re going to burn. Kidding, kind of. Anyway, you’re a real person who probably has a real job and maybe you don’t get to be 100% goth 100% of the time, but lets face it, if you’re here, you’re WAY GOTHER than everybody else.
Stay tuned for our review of the best piers to hang out under while you’re at the beach.
